Electrifying Technical Organic Syntheses
~the first major technology platform that drives the transfer of electroorganic syntheses from the laboratory to industrial scale~

Recap: ETOS Summer School 2026

This year‘s ETOS Summer School (14th to 15th of September, 2026) at KIT in Karlsruhe was a big success.

Over 40 participants attended exciting lectures on Organic Electrosynthesis: The presentations by Dr. Enrico Lunghi (MPI CEC) and Prof. Dr. Georg Manolikakes (RPTU) highlighted the perspective of synthetic chemistry. Insights from chemical and process engineering were provided by Dr. Philipp Röse (KIT), Dr. Peter Holtappels (KIT) and Prof. Dr.-Ing. John Linkhorst (TU Darmstadt). On the first day, Dr. Thomas H. Rehm (Fraunhofer IMM) showed how biocatalysis can be combined with electrosynthesis. To conclude the summer school, ETOS spokesperson Dr. Nicola Aust (BASF SE) provided fascinating insights into industrial electrosynthesis and research and development at BASF.

Additionally, the participants also enjoyed a tour of the Energy Lab on KIT’s Campus North and a social barbecue, which provided an opportunity to get to know one another and exchange ideas.

We would like to thank all participants and speakers for a successful Summer School and are already looking forward to the next edition.
