Cluster4Future ETOS receives further funding

The ETOS Cluster4Future has successfully passed the critical assessment conducted by the BMFTR, a panel of experts, and external reviewers: the progress made over the past three years and the research results to date were well received. As a result, electrifying technical organic syntheses (ETOS) remains an important topic for the future.

During the first funding period, the team of spokespersons, Prof. Siegfried R. Waldvogel (MPI CEC) and Prof. Ulrike Krewer (KIT), succeeded in bringing together 32 partners from research and industry for joint research projects. In addition to the €15 million in project funding from period 1, ETOS played a key role in securing over €220 million for accompanying research. To date, the first phase has to led to eight filed patents, two products/services, over 21 publications, and numerous new methods in electrosynthesis.

The BMFTR has now given the green light for this success story to continue. The second funding phase will begin on April 1, 2026, and will receive an additional €12.1 million in funding over three years. Additional funds will be contributed by industry partners and others, bringing the total project budget to more than €18 million.
